PROBLEM SPACE

College students in their first year are at higher risk for serious consequences when drinking, yet over half of first year students drink due to factors such as newfound freedoms, attempts to make friends or fit in, a lack of trusted mentorship, and the pursuit of the idealized “college experience.”

Although alcohol education exists in multiple forms, most sources are mandatory, outdated, or simply not taken seriously.

design solution

Life of the Party is primarily made up of a kit, which includes items such as a wearable drink counter, a lined cup, a set of informational cards, as well as items to aid in hangover relief.

This system presents alcohol education in a way that is novel, interactive, and elective. Information is shared from a relatable and trusted source that demonstrates an understanding of the user’s context and needs.

Card backs are stylized photos that act as a collage kit: this encourages the user to keep the cards and reference them as needed. Make your own collage or click to enlarge︎︎︎
